Alvin ISD board canvasses May 2 election, approves consent agenda and personnel in unanimous votes

At its meeting the Alvin ISD Board of Trustees canvassed and certified results from the May 2 trustee election, approved the consent agenda, designated non-business days under House Bill 3033 and confirmed several personnel appointments. All motions described below passed on unanimous 7–0 votes.

Canvass and certification: The board read the unofficial canvass report and moved to canvass and certify the May 2, 2026 trustee election. The board declared Fernando Henahosa the winner for Trustee Position 6 and Gabe Garza the winner for Trustee Position 7 and approved certification by motion; the motion carried 7–0. Vote percentages were read from the canvass report.

Consent agenda: Trustees approved consent items A–H by motion (items included minutes, contractor/consultant awards, RFP for fuel, cooperative purchase for a high school roof replacement, construction manager-at-risk for a high school expansion, investment policy matters, proposed policy revisions, and a teacher data portal waiver). Trustee Scott moved and Trustee Humber seconded; the motion carried 7–0.

Other formal actions: The board approved designation of non-business days for the purposes of House Bill 3033 (affecting timelines for public information requests), approved recommended personnel contracts (teachers, counselors and other positions), named Shannon Davidson assistant principal at Hassie Elementary, and approved Dr. Toriano (Tony) Taylor as principal of Iowa Colony High School. Each item was approved on unanimous 7–0 votes.

The board concluded with a closed executive session under Texas Government Code 551.074 to discuss personnel and then returned and adjourned the meeting.
