Evart board approves placing 18‑mill operating millage renewal on August primary ballot

The Evart Public Schools Board of Education voted to place an 18‑mill operating millage renewal on the August primary ballot after a roll‑call vote during its evening meeting.

Board members were informed that the measure is a renewal—not an increase—and that qualifying for the August primary would avoid district election costs. Staff explained that the renewal is part of the district’s routine process to maintain state funding and that failure to pass the renewal could result in a reduction in state aid to the district.

Members asked procedural and outreach questions about the public information materials the district will use; staff said a board‑oriented brochure and parent communications (ParentSquare) would be prepared and distributed to help answer voter questions. The board was also told the district needs the signed resolution to be filed the next day to meet the August election deadline.

A roll‑call vote recorded the following board members as voting yes: Brie (Bri) Greyel, Mark Moody, Gerald Nichols, Ken Worth, Jamie Hullberger and Todd Bergammont. The motion carried and the board authorized filing the signed resolution with election officials.
