The Cottage Grove Economic Development Authority on May 12 authorized $75,000 from the EDA trust fund to prepare plats needed for the County Road 19A / 100th Street realignment project, a step staff said will make roughly 14–17 parcels developable and preserve funding for construction scheduled next year.
City Administrator Jennifer told the board the city plans to bid the 100th Street project in the fall with construction next year and that platting the affected parcels now will allow the city to use existing funds without risking loss of grant or partnership dollars. She said 3M has agreed in principle to dedicate the needed right-of-way rather than be assessed, which staff called a significant value to the city.
"We are asking to use the EDA trust funds to cover the $75,000 for the platting activity," Jennifer said, explaining that the city has a master service agreement with the engineering firm that has been working on utilities for the corridor. The EDA approved the authorization by voice vote.
What happens next: Staff will enter the platting work scope and issue the $75,000 authorization; plat preparation is intended to clear legal and mapping hurdles so the road realignment and associated development can proceed.
