Commerce City URA approves Bridge House maintenance contract, transfers opioid-settlement funds and sets monthly meetings

The Derby Urban Renewal Authority voted unanimously to adopt resolution UR 2026-004 to contract with Bridge House for landscape maintenance and upkeep in the Derby Urban Renewal District and adjacent Mahai Greyhound Park area. Director Rogers described the agreement as “an arrangement that would allow a nonprofit organization to provide maintenance, landscaping, and upkeep services” for the district.

The board also unanimously adopted resolution UR 2026-005 to transfer opioid-settlement funds for an opioid summit and related services; staff clarified the contract term runs through Oct. 31, 2026 with extensions requiring URA approval. Board members asked whether the $40,000 line item was a single-year commitment; staff said the term ends Oct. 31, 2026 and any extension would return to the URA.

During administrative business the board discussed meeting cadence and logistics. Executive Director Rogers recommended monthly URA meetings on the second Monday with cancellation when no business exists and an Executive Director report-out on activities; the board voted to schedule regular URA meetings accordingly. Members requested that staff provide recurring Zoom links to board members rather than requiring monthly registration, and asked staff to include administrative-business items on agendas when time-sensitive matters arise.

The URA meeting was adjourned at 6:20 p.m.; the council study session followed. The motions and outcomes recorded in the meeting minutes reflect the roll‑call actions taken by the URA during the session.
