The Sheriff described a short hands‑only CPR initiative tied to EMS week and a local official's recovery from a cardiac incident.
"This is more a simplistic but effective training that it only takes about 15 minutes... it's really geared towards anyone and everyone to be able to know the basics of CPR and potentially save someone's life," the Sheriff said. He said the county will host two sessions next week, with Justin instructing and an online signup available; the sessions were discussed for Wednesday and Thursday at 1:00 p.m.
Chair and other commissioners agreed to adjust next week's meeting schedule so members could attend the trainings. The Chair urged county employees who have not had the training to participate.
Separately, the Chair announced upcoming community events including the county's annual golf tournament on June 9 at Cocheco Country Club and the House of Correction awards with the governor on June 25.
Why it matters: Brief, hands‑only CPR training can increase bystander readiness in cardiac emergencies; commissioners encouraged staff and the public to participate.
