The Richmond City Board of Works and Safety approved contract 53-2026 with Reed Hospital and Healthcare Care Services to provide biometric screenings at the municipal employee health fair scheduled for May 8, 2026.
Monica Himmingway, the payroll and benefits administrator, presented the contract and said the cost breaks down to $54 per female participant and $63 per male participant. Himmingway said the city typically tests between 200 and 300 employees, including eligible spouses and retirees.
A board member described the screening program as important for early disease detection and cost savings to the city’s insurance program. The board approved the contract by voice vote; no roll-call tally was recorded in the meeting minutes.
The screening will be organized by the finance department in coordination with Reed Hospital and Healthcare Care Services as part of the regular employee benefits offerings.
