Goodhue County honors elections manager Mickey Otto and recognizes local committee achievements

Chair announced that Mickey Otto, Goodhue County property‑tax and elections manager, received the statewide Excellence in Elections award from Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon at a recent county election administration training conference. The chair described Otto's responsibilities—coordinating elections training, hiring temporary election workers, maintaining tabulators and ballots, and interpreting statutory changes—and praised her for leadership and innovation in county election administration.

The chair framed the award as recognition of strong interdepartmental partnership and election‑administration innovation and noted it is only the second year the award has been issued. Commissioners also used committee reports to congratulate Chuck Schuardo on his induction into a regional extension Hall of Fame and to mark National Detention Deputy Recognition Week, praising detention staff for their care and training of detainees.
