Commissioners approved routine contract actions on May 14, including a renewal for generator preventive maintenance and an award for a security fence at the Highlandville shop.
County staff presented a renewal with Central Power Systems & Services to provide preventive maintenance for two generators: "It's $850 a year for the Circuit Court Building, and it's $525 a year for the jail," Richard said. Commissioners noted the vendor responds to emergency calls and recommended renewal; the motion to approve passed by voice vote.
Highway staff recommended awarding the Highlandville security fence contract to Anchor Fence of Springfield, which submitted the low, compliant bid of $37,512.27 and met all specifications. Staff said the fenced area will be roughly 300–374 linear feet with three gates (one automated, two manual) and that barbed wire used on other sites would not be used at this location because of nearby residences. A motion to award the contract was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
Both actions were described by commissioners as important for safety and for protecting county equipment; staff said the fence project was budgeted for the year.
