The Bryan ISD board recognized students and staff for recent academic and athletic achievements.
Sarah Braden, executive director of the Education Foundation, announced the foundation awarded $45,000 in Alternative Certification Scholarships to support nine educators pursuing teacher certification. "The Education Foundation has awarded $45,000 in scholarships to both teachers and degreed paraprofessionals seeking their teacher certification credentials," Braden said as she called recipients to the front for recognition and photos.
Athletics staff, led by Derek Rush and area coaches, introduced state wrestling qualifiers and placers from Bryan High and Rudder High and highlighted a first state champion in Bryan High history. Coaches noted several student athletes advancing to national competitions later this month.
Dr. Christina Richardson introduced two National Merit finalists from Rudder and Bryan High, explaining the selectivity of the program and congratulating the students on their academic achievements.
The board’s recognitions were followed by campus improvement presentations by principals and a district academic update; no public commenters spoke during the public comment period.
