Committee approves outside counsel investigation into contracts related to Forest Webb III

A walk‑in resolution asking the city attorney to engage outside counsel to investigate the city of Atlanta’s engagement contracts, payments and administrative actions related to Forest Webb III was introduced and approved unanimously by the committee.

Committee staff read the resolution and a motion was made and seconded; the committee recorded a favorable vote of five to zero. A speaker on the floor noted that Council Member Bond had initiated the process at a prior meeting and should receive credit for bringing the resolution forward.

No investigative findings were discussed at the meeting. The resolution directs the city attorney’s office to retain outside counsel to conduct an independent review; the committee did not specify a timeline for the investigation during the meeting.

The committee also approved, by separate votes earlier in the session, an appointment to the West End Community Improvement District and a $1,000 donation from Zoo Atlanta for the council retreat.
