Tamara Ingwaldson, program support services for New Horizon Communities, updated the Mason County Commission on the group 27s housing-and-support model and survey results.
Ingwaldson said New Horizon operates three villages with current capacity to house 95 individuals and conducts biannual resident surveys to guide services. Residents reported benefits including improved mental health, increased security, and community support; areas for improvement included more mental-health services, more daily activities, and training for being a good neighbor and tenant. The full survey is available at nhcommunities.org, she said.
She also shared a resident success story about a veteran, "Ryan," who entered care in poor condition a year earlier, completed programming and milestone achievements and is pursuing employment. Ingwaldson framed the story as an example of how housing plus one-on-one support can produce recovery and community reintegration.
Commissioners thanked New Horizon representatives for the update. No formal action was taken during the briefing; New Horizon's comments were presented as an informational program update.
