Jeff Edwards was elected as a resident member of the St. Bernard Community Improvement Corporation after introducing himself to the board and describing a long history in the village.
"Most people know me. I 27ve lived here forever 27I just care about St. Bernard," Edwards told the board, saying he wants development done "right" and that unique businesses could draw people and bolster the tax base. The membership moved and voted to place Edwards on the ballot and then to seat him as a resident member.
The meeting also handled the scheduled reappointments of three senior members. The board conducted separate motions and voice votes to reappoint Bob Culbertson, Ray Culbertson and Amy Oali to their respective seats. Bob Culbertson was reappointed to continue serving as the corporation's treasurer, a role the board praised for competence in handling the accounts.
Meredith, who is stepping down from an elected role to serve in an advisory capacity, was formally appointed as an outside legal adviser. The motion to appoint Meredith was made, seconded and carried by voice vote.
The board filled internal officer positions during the session. Members voted to appoint Chris Shmeer as secretary (to replace Meredith 27s administrative role), to retain Tom Rolson as vice president and to confirm Jonathan Stel as president; the transcript records that Stel abstained on the vote to elect himself and the remainder of the membership voted affirmatively.
Minutes and routine business preceded the elections. The treasurer reported account balances, noting an unchanged First Street account and a balance in the Fifth Third Bank account as presented during the meeting.
The CIC did not release specific roll-call tallies beyond the recorded voice votes; minutes show voice votes carried for each motion. The board set its next regular meeting for Tuesday, June 25 at 6 p.m.
The appointments take effect immediately for board governance and administrative duties; members said they will continue to coordinate on shopping-center redevelopment and property-management matters at upcoming meetings.
