The Davis County Board of Commissioners voted March 10 to allocate $90,000 from opioid‑settlement funds to Davis Behavioral Health to address a funding shortfall for opioid‑treatment services.
Todd Usinger presented the request on behalf of Davis Behavioral Health, saying staff had identified a likely shortfall in treatment funding and that $90,000 would allow services to continue through Dec. 31, 2026. "The most pressing need that Davis Behavioral Health identified for us was that they were going to have a funding shortfall for opioid treatment of $90,000," Usinger said. The commission approved the allocation and recorded that the use of the funds will be reviewed annually to assess ongoing need.
Commissioners acknowledged collaboration with law-enforcement and pretrial partners in efforts to direct opioid-settlement funds toward treatment and system sustainability. The motion to approve the allocation passed by voice vote; the transcript does not record a roll‑call tally.
The funding decision commits settlement proceeds to maintain treatment capacity in the near term; county staff said future needs will be revisited on an annual basis and adjustments can be made at subsequent meetings.
