Board appoints Stephen Wilder as assistant superintendent for HR and instructional leadership

The board approved the appointment of Stephen Wilder as assistant superintendent for human resources and instructional leadership during the March 10 meeting.

Superintendent Dr. Roarback introduced Wilder and summarized his background: prior service as a U.S. Marine Corps sergeant during Operation Iraqi Freedom, honors for service at Ground Zero, subsequent work as an elementary and special-education teacher and later as a middle- and high-school principal. Dr. Roarback noted Wilder's record of improving graduation rates, his experience with hiring and human-resources functions, and his work strengthening school safety and climate systems.

Wilder's contract was signed at the meeting and the superintendent asked the community to welcome him. The appointment was conducted as part of routine board personnel actions (items L1–L19 and L20 were considered in the same agenda sequence; the appointment was presented immediately after the resolution vote).
