Principal Katie Green presented a school update for Leetra Elementary, detailing academic metrics, the school’s intervention work and steps to improve attendance.
Green said Leetra’s current enrollment is 596 with average K–3 class size at about 24.1 and fourth–fifth grade at about 28.1. Reading and math indicators were reviewed: the school reported approximately 63.8% of students at or above proficient in language arts and about 50% at or above grade level in math (data presented as dashboard bands). Green told the board that chronic absenteeism improved from about 17.9% last year to 10.8% this year.
On interventions, Green said math intervention has rostered 91 students since September, with 22 exited and 69 still enrolled, and that reading intervention (Spire) is serving about 82 students; math intervention pullouts run in 30-minute sessions multiple days per week and include instructional aides. During board Q&A, math interventionist Miss Olive and reading interventionist Miss Lots described the pullout schedule, small-group formats, and Friday one-on-one checks to assess mastery.
Trustees praised the PTA, STEAM lab expansion (supported by GE funding) and community volunteer involvement. Principal Green closed by inviting trustees to visit intervention classrooms and STEAM events.
