At its meeting the West School Committee recorded several formal actions: the ratification of a collective bargaining agreement, approvals of contract extensions and curriculum purchases, referral of some items to standing committees, and a temporary hold on a turf procurement.
Early in the meeting the committee voted to ratify the collective bargaining agreement with Teamsters Local Union 170 covering Worcester Public Schools transportation mechanics for the period July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2027. Roll call votes recorded committee support for ratification.
Consent and finance items approved included a three‑year extension for ParentSquare (not to exceed $350,788), a three‑year custom computer/Infinite Campus contract extension (not to exceed $1,358,134), and authorization to purchase the Unique Learning curriculum (not to exceed $96,349) and the Number Worlds curriculum (not to exceed $450,893). The Unique Learning and Number Worlds curriculum purchases were referred to the Teaching, Learning and Student Success (TLSS) committee for further review.
Other operations items reported by committee chairs (building maintenance quarterly, alternative placement supports and student handbook items) were approved and filed. The turf procurement (GB4‑69) was pulled from approval pending additional documentation.
