The East Hampton Architects Review Board on May 14 approved certificates of occupancy for the pool pavilion and two pool houses at Further Lane Farm but declined to approve landscape tree uplighting that appeared on the property without prior ARB approval.
Frank (S10), who reviewed the file, said the pool pavilion and the two pool houses conform to prior resolutions (dates cited in the transcript) and recommended notifying the building department that the applicant had satisfied the ARB conditions for those structures. "I would like to make a motion to instruct staff to notify the building department that this applicant has satisfied the conditions and substantially conforms to the ARB approval," Frank said. The motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
Separately, Frank and other board members noted eight tree uplights and multiple driveway lights that were not on the approved landscape lighting plan. The board treated landscape lighting as a separate resolution; members said they were not comfortable approving uplights that were not shown on plans. Frank said the uplights were "not what we approved" and suggested the applicant either remove them or return with a proper submittal. The board did not authorize issuing the landscape-lighting resolution at this meeting.
Board members also discussed the origin of the installations and named the contractor and lighting firm observed on site; the transcript identifies the contractor as Phil Kaufman and the lighting firm as Orsman (Horseman/Horseman spelled inconsistently in the record). The ARB will notify the building department on the pool structures and expect the applicant to return or to remove the unapproved uplighting before final acceptance of the lighting plan.
