Farragut awards $139,767 contract to replace failing culvert on South Montichello Road

The Farragut Board approved awarding the South Montichello Road culvert-replacement contract (Contract 2026-24) to Adams Contracting LLC for $139,767 on May 7.

Staff described the existing structure as a failing 42-inch corrugated metal pipe with endwalls and curb inlets in need of replacement. Four bids were reported at the meeting; staff identified Adams Contracting as the low responsive bidder at $139,767 and recommended award. The board approved the award after a brief discussion.

Board members and staff discussed expected lifespan and causes of corrosion for corrugated metal pipe; staff estimated a 10-week construction schedule from notice to proceed with an anticipated completion date in late July if work begins after the school year ends. One board member noted that concrete pipe is expected to last substantially longer than the older corrugated metal pipes it will replace.
