ECI committee ratifies and approves several student trips, including softball spring training to Alabama

The ECI committee approved a slate of student travel requests during the March 10 meeting.

Mr. McBain presented the list and asked for a motion. The committee moved and seconded the motion and approved the travel requests by voice/hand vote.

Approved trips summarized by presenters:
- Odyssey of the Mind: 88 students to Swiftwater, Pennsylvania, March 27–29. Cost to district: none (no district cost).
- North Penn High School softball: student athletes and four coaches to Alabama for spring training, March 11–15. Cost to district: $13,348. Because the trip departs before the board meets again, Dr. Bower noted this item would be ratified rather than approved.
- PMEA All‑State: 12 students and three staff to a Pennsylvania conference, April 22–25. Cost to district: $5,720.
- Technology association state competition: 10 students to Seven Springs, April 15–18. Cost to district: $2,630.
- DECA members: two students and one staff to Atlanta, April 24–29. Cost to district: $720.
- Middle‑school string ensemble: 38 students and staff to Pennsylvania, April 17–19. Cost to district: $360.

Board procedure: a committee member moved the motion, another seconded, and members indicated approval aloud; the meeting record shows the motion carried. Dr. Bower specifically noted the softball trip would be ratified because it leaves before the committee could approve the full travel list prior to departure.

The committee recorded no further discussion and moved on to informational presentations.
