Board approves finance items: checks, budget adjustments and community donations

Director of finance Michelle McCain presented routine finance items and three budget adjustments for board approval. She asked the board to approve checks written in March and to accept budget adjustments that reflect state allocations and carryovers.

Highlights presented to the board included:

- Checks written in March totaling approximately $3,373,692.10.

- A state funding adjustment to the operational budget totaling $862,618.38 (unit value adjustments, teacher cost index and national board certification allocations).

- A debt service cash carryover of roughly $352,692.65 that was not included in the initial budget.

- A correction to non‑instructional trust/fund estimates reducing projected fundraising carryover by about $265,870.

- A reduction to the district PreK award of about $57,170 after state reconciliation; staff said the change followed a later review and adjustment by the state early‑childhood department.

McCain also presented a list of community donations the board accepted and acknowledged, including a $35,965 total raised by the district’s cake auction event and a series of smaller donations earmarked for athletics and extracurricular programs.

The board moved, seconded and approved the financial reports and adjustment requests on a voice vote.

Next steps: Finance staff will implement approved adjustments, update budget documents and post required public reports.
