Application for 'Vasquez Home Projects' deemed withdrawn after applicant fails to appear

The Warr Acres Planning Commission declared on March 10 that the rezoning application from Vasquez Home Projects is withdrawn because no applicant representative appeared for the required public hearing.

A staff member said they had communicated with the project engineer and informed them the applicant needed to attend. When no one representing Vasquez Home Projects appeared, a member read the city code for applicants who fail to appear: "by virtue of the city code, if an applicant fails to appear for either of the public hearings, the application is deemed withdrawn." The commission concluded the application is withdrawn and explained the applicant would need to reapply and publish new public notices and pay applicable fees if they wish to pursue the project again.

Commissioners stressed this was a procedural outcome tied to the applicant's absence rather than a substantive evaluation of the proposal. The commission advised staff and the public that reapplication would trigger new notices and restart the review process.
