Warren County’s health department will host a Purdue‑funded pharmacy fellow who will be based at the county facility and provide a range of public-health services, commissioners agreed on Monday.
Health department staff said Purdue will pay the fellow’s salary and the fellow will operate under the health department’s public-health umbrella, offering vaccinations, screening and other clinical services. The board approved the arrangement and directed staff to receive an updated contract containing the board’s requested changes before final signature.
Separately, health staff announced remaining appointment slots for county heart scans and said IU Health will operate a mobile lung‑scan unit in the county on April 7 and May 13. Staff said the provider will check insurance for eligible patients and also accept walk-ins within eligibility rules; callers are encouraged to register ahead for faster service.
What’s next: Staff will finalize the fellowship contract when Purdue returns an edited agreement and will continue to publicize mobile screening dates and registration details.
