Griffin Bike Park rentals to be accepted as $200 donations earmarked for operations

The Vigo County Parks and Recreation Board approved allowing renters to reserve the Griffin Bike Park building in exchange for a $200 donation, with those donations earmarked for operations and maintenance of Griffin Bike Park.

Staff said the park is operated almost entirely on donations and that accepting a $200 donation for use of the facility would route funds directly to a donations line dedicated to the park, which could be used to pay utilities and support staffing for the facility. Staff reported they consulted the State Board of Accounts, which raised no objection provided donations are earmarked, tracked, and appropriated by the council to a dedicated line for the park.

Board members discussed tracking donations and creating a dedicated accounting sheet for inflows and outflows tied to Griffin Bike Park. The board approved the donation‑based rental arrangement; staff will implement dedicated tracking and follow council appropriation procedures.
