The Southampton School Committee recorded several decisions on routine and governance items during its meeting.
Line-item transfers: The committee approved a fiscal-year 2026 line-item transfer (debts and credits equal $21,480.91) as presented by Business Administrator Don; the motion was moved and seconded and approved by voice vote.
Negotiations subcommittee: Margaret nominated Jen to join the negotiations team as an additional participant/observer to ease an upcoming transition; John seconded the nomination and the committee approved the change 4–0 with one abstention.
School-of-choice reaffirmation: The committee reaffirmed that Norris will remain a school of choice for the coming year. The motion (moved by Dylan, seconded by Margaret) passed 4–1; members noted that seat availability will depend on override outcomes and sibling priority.
Field trip and gift: The committee approved an out-of-state field trip for sixth-graders to Sunny’s Place in Connecticut on June 17 and accepted a $2,000 donation from the Women’s Club of Southampton to be used for technology purchases and placed in the gift revolving account.
Executive session: The committee voted to enter executive session under Chapter 30A, Section 21(a)(3) to discuss strategy with respect to collective bargaining and declared it would not return to open session.
