Central Christian Academy (CCA) asked the Fishers City Council for a special exception to operate a private elementary school at 10601 Cumberland Road in the Legends at Gist PUD.
Jessica Dickinson, representing the petitioner, said CCA is a state‑accredited private school planning a modest phased opening: kindergarten and first grade in year one with an anticipated enrollment of no more than 36 students, and the school would add one grade per year up to a possible capacity of about 170 students. The petitioner will renovate interior space, fill the existing pool and pursue phased expansions to create classrooms; the school coordinated with nearby Fire Station 94 for shared parking agreements and offered land access to the station for outdoor uses.
Councilmembers questioned traffic impacts at the busy 106th and Cumberland intersection, possible expansion of school‑zone speed limits and how drop‑off/pick‑up operations would be handled; staff said the school expects car riders and that traffic engineers and neighborhood outreach would be part of the review. Council opened and closed the public hearing with no public speakers and gave the item a first reading; a final reading is scheduled for April 20.
