Bill Shock, assistant chief with the Goshen Fire Department, used the board’s platform on March 5 to inform the public about Indiana Severe Weather Preparedness Week (March 8–14, 2026), coordinated by the National Weather Service and the Indiana Department of Homeland Security. He said the statewide tornado drill is planned for Tuesday, March 10 at approximately 10:15 a.m. Eastern time and that outdoor warning sirens throughout Elcart County, including those in Goshen, may be activated as part of the exercise.
Shock emphasized the drill is designed to help communities practice responses to tornado warnings and to confirm that warning systems and emergency procedures function properly. He advised residents that if they hear sirens at the scheduled time they should treat it as a test and use the moment to review severe‑weather safety plans; if severe weather is occurring, the drill will be postponed.
Board members thanked the fire department for the announcement and had no additional questions.
