Clerk reads dozens of mayoral FY2027 dockets, including major appropriations and revolving fund limits

On April 8 the city clerk read a broad set of mayoral communications and budget dockets related to fiscal year 2027. The items, which the council referred to the Committee on Ways and Means and other committees, included a mix of capital appropriations, revolving fund authorizations and grant acceptances.

Notable items read into the record included a message authorizing an appropriation of $40 million to the city’s Other Post‑Employment Benefits (OPEB) liability trust fund; a proposed $3.5 million transfer from the city capital grant fund to address Transportation Network Services impacts on municipal infrastructure; a $5 million appropriation from surplus property disposition funds for coastal resilience planning, design and construction; and a $13.855 million request for capital improvements for Boston Public Schools. The clerk also read proposed revolving fund limits for multiple departments and programs, including bikeshare program funding and funds for school transportation and technology revolving funds.

Each docket was referred to the committee identified in the clerk’s reading for additional review and possible action. Councilors noted the breadth of the FY2027 proposals and the need for committee scrutiny on items that carry significant long‑term fiscal impact.
