The Silver Creek School Corporation board on March 12 voted to approve its consent agenda, which included personnel appointments, donations and other routine items.
Dr. Briggs summarized consent items and noted emergency revisions adding four donations of $2,500 each to support Silver Creek High School College and Career Day and two classified coaching appointments: Robert Orort (baseball JV head coach) and Brandon Miller (baseball varsity assistant coach), both effective March 16, 2026. After limited questions about homebound instruction and a temporary contract for speech‑language services, the board voted to approve the consent agenda; the chair announced the motion carried 5‑0.
During the same meeting, the board approved the second reading of updated policies, including policy 8452 on automated external defibrillators (AEDs). Dr. Briggs highlighted edits and said the district worked with athletic directors and the corporation nurse to refine the policy. He emphasized that AEDs "literally save lives" and that the update focuses on making students of appropriate ages aware of AED locations and that opening an AED will trigger an alarm but is appropriate when needed.
The board also reviewed building reports and reminders about upcoming meetings and adjourned after closing motions.
