Gerry Favreau, president of the Clinton County Historical board and chair of the Clinton County American Bicentennial Committee, thanked the Clinton County Legislature on March 25 for an $11,000 county grant and described how the funding will support centennial programming.
Favreau said the organization received a roughly $40,000 grant from the Champlain Valley National Heritage Partnership that funded one-day children's camps, wayside exhibits across the county, and a banner program to be distributed to municipalities. He outlined plans for a major 250th anniversary Battle of Valcour commemoration set for Oct. 9'11, described a limited-run challenge coin fundraiser (250 coins, numbered; artist-produced faces noted), and said the group expects to cover major reenactment costs (boats, transport) with approximately $40,000 rather than the higher figures Favreau cited for other events.
Favreau also noted a $14,000 payment from the Ticonderoga Commission that reached the county but whose exact routing and designated uses remain unresolved; the committee will follow up to determine municipal distribution. He said the historical committee will continue outreach to every municipality in the county and thanked the legislature for its continued support.
Favreau used local-history framing and repeated appeals for attendance and support; he also noted ongoing coordination with local printers and event partners and offered to provide photographic and program materials to county staff.
