Board directs legal counsel to act in Whit v. Grand Canyon Council case

The Glendale Elementary District governing board on March 26 authorized staff to direct outside counsel and take necessary litigation steps in the matter captioned Whit v. Grand Canyon Council (Boy Scouts of America).

Scott Jones briefed the board on the status: with changes in related national bankruptcy proceedings and active state‑court developments, the district must file notices and potentially motions (including a motion to dismiss) on a near deadline, he said. “The governing board directs the superintendent or a designee to have Canelian Brown PLC file any necessary notices, motions, and take all appropriate actions in defense of the district,” Scott Jones said during his presentation to the board.

Board members moved and seconded the action; roll‑call style voice votes were recorded for Mr. Harm, Miss Wilson, Miss Bartell and Miss Pimentel and for the chair. The board approved the direction to legal counsel and designated the superintendent and staff to meet filing timelines; an executive session was offered but no motion to convene was made.
