Lemoore honors Brenda Martin, late Chamber president; Rotary announces food drive

The Lemoore City Council opened its April 7 meeting with a ceremonial remembrance of Brenda Martin, former president of the Lemoore Chamber of Commerce, and presented a certificate to her family.

Council members and community volunteers described Martin's contributions to local events and civic life, citing her dedication, leadership and ‘‘infectious laugh.' Alex She Walker, chief financial officer for the Lemoore Chamber, thanked the council and said the chamber will honor Martin at its January 2027 installation as the first recipient of a Legal Legacy Award. Volunteer Leanne Rossiter and others recalled working with Martin for decades.

During public comment, Walker (representing the Rotary Club of Lemoore) announced a community food drive on April 11 to benefit Lemoore Christian Aid and the Lemoore College food pantry; the Rotary will match donations up to $5,000 and accept cash and non-perishable food donations between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The council observed a brief moment of silence and then moved on to regular business.
