Mount Pleasant board honors retiring educators, recognizes students and new hires

The Mount Pleasant Area School District board used part of its May 6 meeting to honor retiring employees, recognize student achievements and welcome newly approved hires.

Superintendent remarks and a standing recognition included students such as Bryce Gamble, noted for culinary competition wins and an FCCLA entrepreneurship gold medal, and Alexis Baker, selected as the high school student of the month. The board read biographies and recognized more than a dozen retirees across classroom and support roles, noting their combined decades of service; the superintendent said the group’s cumulative service exceeded "over 350 years".

The board also approved 12 new professional hires for the 2026–27 school year under consent items and acknowledged student board representatives who will be leaving their roles. Several board members offered congratulatory remarks to retirees, students and incoming staff during closing comments.

The meeting adjourned after the board completed routine consent motions and appointments.
