Sandpoint honors new police officers, proclaims Live Give 7B week and remembers former Mayor Ray Miller

The meeting opened with ceremonial items and brief staff updates. Police Lieutenant Steven Chamberlain introduced two officers and presented their post-basic certificates, describing the academy and field training requirements and recognizing their service. Mayor Jeremy Grim then read a proclamation designating May 4–8, 2026 as Live Give 7B week to celebrate area nonprofits and encourage community support.

Mayor Grim also publicly recognized the passing of former Sandpoint Mayor Ray Miller, describing Miller’s decades of service as a teacher, coach, veteran, councilor and mayor and extending condolences to his family. Public Works Director Holly Ellis and other staff provided brief operational updates — completed downtown striping, Pine Street paving schedule, and upcoming sidewalk reopenings — and highlighted new basketball hoops and park improvements coming this summer.
