"Cumberland County Public Library launches Summer Reading Challenge"

Cumberland County Public Library announced its Summer Reading Challenge running June 1 through July 31, inviting readers of all ages to track reading, unlock prizes and enter drawings. Participants can pick up a reading log at any library location or use the Read Squared app to record progress. Rewards are tiered: at 10 hours children and teens receive a free book while adults get a carabiner straw kit; at 20 hours children receive a dinosaur adoption kit and teens and adults receive a Bluetooth speaker and $5 in "book bucks" for the Friends of the Cumberland County Public Library book sale. Each library location will award three $50 gift-card prizes (Build-A-Bear for children, GameStop for teens, and Barnes & Noble for adults), and three grand prizes—one per age group—of a $100 gift card to Group Therapy, an indoor entertainment venue. Every five hours of reading yields an extra entry into prize drawings. Prizes are provided by the Friends of the Cumberland County Public Library.
