Committee approves $25,456.80 cardiac monitor warranty paid from EMS grant

The Germantown Public Safety Committee approved a three‑year cardiac monitor repair and warranty service contract totaling $25,456.80, to be funded from a Wisconsin EMS grant. Committee members voted unanimously to extend the contract.

Staff explained the monitors — purchased five years ago — are heavily used and the proposed service contract will cover repairs and accidental damage. A staff member said the contract will be billed annually at about $8,485.60 per year for three years and noted grant funds are expected to cover the cost for the next two years; funding beyond the grant horizon would be addressed in future budgets.

When asked whether the warranty covers accidental damage such as cracked housings, a staff speaker responded that the contract does include coverage for accidental damage and replacement of cases or housings. The motion to accept the contract and use grant funds carried without opposition.

Next steps: staff will execute the service contract and record the expense against the state EMS grant accounting line; if grant funding is not available in later years the cost would be included in departmental budgets.
