The San Angelo City Council on May 21 approved a development incentive for Allen's Transport USA, Inc., a logistics company relocating operations to a Gas Plant Road facility.
Michael Looney, vice president of economic development with the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce, described the firm as a hazmat-capable hauler that has grown to five local employees and plans to expand to about 12, with an average salary reported at roughly $95,000 plus benefits. Looney said the company had invested approximately $1.5 million in converting a former warehouse and installing tank infrastructure.
Council considered a resolution authorizing the development corporation to negotiate and execute an incentive agreement in an amount not to exceed $150,000 under Chapters 501 and 505 of the Texas Development Corporation Act to promote primary-job creation. After a motion and second, the council approved the measure by voice vote with no opposing votes.
"They have an excellent safety record and they're continuing to grow," Looney said, describing why economic-development staff recommended assistance. Councilmember Tommy moved approval; the motion was seconded by Councilmember Larry and passed 7–0.
What happens next: City and the economic development corporation will finalize terms and execute an incentive agreement consistent with the authorization approved May 21.
