Crew Car Wash granted 12‑month extension for County Line Road project

The Germantown Plan Commission voted March 9 to extend the site plan and conditional use permit approvals for a proposed automated Crew Car Wash at N96 W17500 County Line Road for an additional 12 months.

Staff explained the original site plan and conditional use approvals were granted in April 2024 but construction had not commenced within the standard 12‑month window. Crew Car Wash (property owner: Dom Number 74 LLC of Fishers, Indiana) submitted a written extension request explaining the delay stemmed from demolition and underground tank removal coordination at the existing BP site and from the company's strategic, multi‑site roll‑out and equipment procurement schedule.

Chrissy Adhold, counsel for Crew Car Wash, told the commission the extension request “is not to show any hesitation. It’s just really intentional strategic planning” tied to coordinating multiple sites and specialized equipment. Commissioners discussed whether repeated extensions should be limited; staff noted the zoning code allows one or more extensions at the plan commission’s discretion for good cause. The commission approved the 12‑month extension and will recommend conditional use permit extension to the village board.

Staff said the applicant owns the property and continues to pay taxes on it; the applicant indicated staffing at the site would be around 20 employees when operating. The commission's approval keeps the original conditions in force while extending the commencement deadline to April 8, 2027.
