The Willacy County Commissioners Court selected DCW Data Center Warehouse to provide technology and equipment for the county's Wellness and Heritage Center and approved payment from the American Rescue Plan Act accrued interest balance.
County staff explained they solicited three quotes to comply with procurement guidelines and recommended the lowest responsive bidder after confirming identical specifications across bids. The court heard that the purchase will use accrued interest on ARPA funds and that installation labor and any minor supplemental work would be addressed separately by county staff. Ruben Cavazos and other staff were present to answer technical questions and to confirm the procurement followed local and state purchasing thresholds.
"We went with the lowest bidder, which makes sense," the County Judge said while explaining the review process; a motion to select DCW Data Center Warehouse was made, seconded and approved.
The motion approved a not-to-exceed purchase amount of $51,608.44 to be charged to ARPA fund 01/14 accrued interest balance. Staff said installation will be coordinated using existing county resources and that any additional installation cost (estimated at a few thousand dollars) will be reported back to the court if needed.
