Committee advances six bipartisan measures by unanimous consent, including Albuquerque Indian School land transfer and Downwinder Commemoration Act

The House Committee on Natural Resources moved a bipartisan unanimous‑consent package of six measures after the H.R.1501 markup, reporting the measures favorably to the House.

Members highlighted two New Mexico bills: H.R.6162, the Albuquerque Indian School Act, which transfers nearly ten acres into trust for the Pueblo Cultural Center, and H.R.4290, the Downwinder Commemoration Act, recognizing communities affected by Trinity‑site fallout. Representative Sainsbury and Representative LeGer Fernandez expressed appreciation for bipartisan support and the local importance of the measures.

Other measures in the package include the Fighting Illegal Seafood Harvest Act (the FISH Act), amendments to the American Battlefield Protection Program, and conveyance bills for Crystal Reservoir. Committee leaders said the package reflects cooperation across subcommittees and that staff would make technical and conforming changes as needed before formal House consideration.

The committee's unanimous‑consent motion consolidated previously filed amendments agreed by staff and leadership. Members on both sides of the aisle offered brief remarks in support, citing local benefits, historic preservation and enforcement against illegal international fishing.
