Commission committee approves rezoning for property at 2640 Highway 41 North to C1 rural center

The committee approved a rezoning request to change a parcel at 2640 Highway 41 North (map 048 partial 033-10) from A1 (agriculture/forestry) to C1 (rural center) to permit grading, an office and parking/storage for construction equipment.

Mr. White, a county planning representative, told the committee the site is near the Highway 270/41A intersection and adjoins other C1 parcels, and that last year a request for C2 was denied but the applicant returned this year seeking C1. "The type of business that they have is suitable for C1 and we were not opposed to it this year," Mr. White said, noting the planning commission forwarded a favorable recommendation (one abstention).

Committee members moved and seconded the request and voted in favor of the rezoning.

Next steps: The rezoning will be applied according to the county’s planning process and any permits or inspections required for the proposed uses will follow local permitting procedures.
