At the Herriman City Council work meeting on May 13, city engineering staff provided a quarterly update on capital projects, reporting progress on right‑of‑way acquisition, trail openings and several road projects that will affect traffic this summer.
Bryce (city engineer/staff) said right‑of‑way negotiations for Gina Road are underway and about 25% of deeds have been signed; design is at roughly 90% and staff are working with property owners on minor alignment and driveway tie‑ins. He announced that Midas Creek Trail is open to the public despite punchlist items and that a ribbon cutting is planned; the White Hollow Trailhead restroom was delivered and utility work is being finalized before opening.
On 6000 West Bryce described deep sewer construction (trenches roughly 20 feet deep) that has required shore boxes and larger equipment; traffic control issues had been noted and staff said some contractor traffic control setups needed correction but were being addressed, including repositioning a traffic signal to improve sight lines near Pearman Boulevard. Councilors raised concerns about neighborhood traffic diversion and short‑term impacts while construction continues.
Bryce also previewed Jordan Valley wireline work and Rosecrest road reconstruction that will begin this summer, including a City Hall open house for the public; Olympia water‑tank construction is underway with an anticipated early‑November completion and water‑line tie‑ins planned to commission the tank before year‑end.
Next steps: staff will continue right‑of‑way negotiations, complete punchlist items for trails, monitor contractor traffic control compliance and coordinate public communications and open houses for major projects.
