Library board selects Lacy Anderson; council to consider hire next week

The East Grand Forks City Council heard on April 14 that the library board chose Lacy Anderson as its next library director and that the board requests the council’s formal approval at the next regular meeting.

Reed Hutton told the council that the board reviewed four finalists and made a unanimous selection; Anderson has verbally accepted the offer contingent on council approval and has completed required background checks. Hutton said the outgoing library staff member (referred to in the meeting as Miss Helguson) is assisting part‑time with the transition.

Hutton also reminded councilmembers that the library will celebrate its 25th anniversary Friday and encouraged them to attend. Council did not vote on the hire during the work session; final approval is scheduled for the next council meeting.
