Koochiching council approves routine financial items, shoreland agreement and temporary liquor permits

The Koochiching City Council approved routine agenda items Monday and carried several recommendations affecting local operations and events.

The council voted to approve the meeting agenda and to recommend approval of regular council minutes (filed as 31726), the March 2026 list of claims and acceptance of account balances and financial statements for March 31, 2026. Individual members registered opposition during the roll calls, but each motion was carried.

Councilors also recommended approval of Ordinance No. 170, described as a shoreland management agreement; members noted the need to sequence actions correctly so the ordinance is legally binding. The council carried a recommendation in favor of the ordinance.

Separately, the council recommended granting temporary on‑sale intoxicating liquor licenses to Can Distillery for June 13, July 1, July 18 and Aug. 6–8. The recommendation was seconded and carried.
