Deputy Superintendent Jennifer Olberg and Senior Director Craig Rouse presented the facilities master plan update, the district timeline since 2018, and accomplishments to date. They reported roughly $87 million in completed school-facilities improvements and described a recently approved $58 million capital package that includes HVAC replacement, LED-lighting upgrades, portable classrooms (including five portables for Quarry Trail and two TK portables at Rocklin Elementary), and a districtwide solar feasibility assessment.
Staff explained next steps: contracts for architects are being solicited with award recommendations expected in June; portable procurement and design work will follow with construction targeted for 2026 (some portables to be operational before the next school year where feasible); and the facilities master plan will be brought to the board as an action item on May 15. Staff noted timing constraints (summer window to complete HVAC and portable work) and the need to coordinate multiple projects across sites.
Trustees thanked staff for the planning work and emphasized prioritization: the facilities master plan is a strategic guide rather than a funding commitment, the presentation said. Board members asked about project sequencing, prioritization criteria, and community communication; staff said they will return with contract recommendations and implementation timelines.
What to watch: the May 15 action item will present the updated facilities master plan for board approval and will include architect contract recommendations for future construction and portable deployment.
