Board approves consent agenda, removes solar contract vote and endorses bill to aid development‑restricted districts

During new business the Lacey Township Board of Education advanced a broad consent agenda covering minutes, bills, transfers, personnel actions and donations, recording roll calls for each motion; several individual items drew abstentions but the broader package passed.

At the start of the finance votes board members announced they would remove item 9 — a solar contract — from consideration at this meeting, postponing action. Late in the meeting the board approved a walk‑on resolution formally endorsing Assembly Bill A4860, titled the Fairness for School Districts in development‑restricted areas act. The resolution urges the New Jersey Legislature to pass A4860 and the governor to sign it, and directed that certified copies be sent to state leaders and local representatives. A presenter told the board — and the assembled audience — that if passed the bill could provide roughly $5 million annually to Lacey Township because of the district’s development‑restricted status; the legislative outcome and funding level are contingent on state action.

The board adjourned after taking the votes; the district will return to remaining agenda items at future meetings and will reschedule the solar contract vote.
