The Pingree Grove village board approved several purchasing and contracting items during its April 20 meeting.
Among the approved items, staff recommended and the board authorized a three-year IT consulting services agreement with MCC Technology for a total contract cost of $173,592 ($57,864 annually). Jim Kunzer, president of MCC Technology, was present in the audience. The motion carried on a roll-call vote.
The board also approved the purchase and installation of parking-lot and field lighting at the new fire-station park at a cost not to exceed $73,000. Staff said the fixtures will be aimed to avoid backyard light spillover, will be dimmable for non-event periods and can be brightened for events. Trustees discussed the trade-offs between safety and early complaints from neighbors but approved the expenditure.
For the wastewater treatment project, the board awarded the biosolids/sludge hauling contract to Synagro in the amount of $63,740. Staff said land application remains the current method; the RFP included contingency pricing in case conditions change.
The consent agenda passed and included approval of the April 6 minutes, a warrant list for $479,519.84 and pay application #30 for wastewater treatment plant improvements ($833,329.89), along with a series of reappointments to the liquor commission, police commission, police pension board and planning and zoning commission.
Roll-call tallies were recorded for each item; motions passed as listed and staff will proceed with contracting and implementation steps as appropriate.
