The Peoria City Council on March 12 approved staff’s recommendation to award a construction contract to Illinois Civil Contractors Inc. for work on Wisconsin Avenue between Nebraska and McClure.
City staff described the overall project and told the council that the contract award in the agenda packet includes contingencies. Staff said the project is funded in part by a $3 million state grant and $2 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds. City staff also reported MBE/WBE participation targets and workforce participation figures associated with the bidder.
Director and project staff told the council construction will begin this spring and that a public meeting will be held at Glen Oak Learning Center to review schedule and schematics. Councilmember Riggenbach encouraged nearby residents to attend the March 20 public meeting to see construction plans.
The motion to approve the contract passed unanimously. Staff noted some numerical descriptions in the meeting record that are inconsistent (a figure presented verbally in the meeting transcript differs from other packet amounts); the article reports funding sources and the contractual award as presented at the meeting and notes that detailed contract documents in the official packet should be used for exact dollar amounts.
Outcome: The council approved the contract award to Illinois Civil Contractors Inc.; construction is scheduled to begin this spring.
