The parks department announced staffing and programming plans for the upcoming season. Brett told the board that PJ Gin and Zack Jones will serve as new softball league directors and asked them to appear at the next meeting to introduce themselves and solicit input.
Registration for youth baseball and softball is open on the department’s online system; the base registration fee was listed as $30. League structures and age brackets were explained (for baseball: coach pitch 6–8, machine pitch 9–11, kid pitch 12–13; for softball: coach pitch 6–8, minor league 9–11, instructional 12–13). Brett noted community interest from several neighboring counties and said travel-team collaboration is possible.
On adult programming, staff announced an adult volleyball open gym beginning March 13 (Fridays, 6–8 p.m., $50 membership for 12 months) and an outdoor pickleball league running April 6–June 15 with a $20 per-person fee. Swim lesson registration opens March 20, classes and aquatic park passes are available on the recreation site, and Crystal Beach aquatic park passes and water-aerobics passes were noted as on sale.
Communications staff were asked to promote the adult programs on social media and in front-window displays; Brett provided a contact email for sponsorship inquiries and said league directors are not requesting additional program funding beyond existing allocations.
