Aurora council confirms mayoral appointments, launches My Aurora 311 portal and adopts a budget amendment

The Aurora City Council on March 10 approved multiple mayoral appointments, heard a mayoral report highlighting community events and a new data portal, and adopted a budget amendment.

Appointments: The council approved several mayoral resolutions, including appointments and reappointments to advisory boards. Examples read by the clerk included resolution 2600099 (appointments to the Deferred Compensation Administration Committee) and several reappointments to the Aurora Veterans Advisory Council (resolutions 260106, 260107, 260109, 260110, 260113). Most appointment votes were unanimous by roll call (12–0); one reappointment vote passed 10–2. New appointees were invited forward for photographs.

Mayor’s announcements: Mayor John Lash read the city’s annual Ramadan proclamation recognizing Aurora’s Muslim community and thanked the Community Events Division for civic programming. The mayor also previewed the My Aurora 311 open data portal, launching the morning after the meeting; he said the portal includes dashboards that track call volumes, average call duration and completed service requests, and quoted sustained service metrics since the city adopted new customer‑service software.

Consent and contracts: The council approved the consent and direct‑council consent agendas, which included routine ordinances and resolutions. Notable items included a contract authorization for Air Productions in the amount of $318,978 for sound equipment at River Edge Park and multiple special service area ordinances for stormwater management. The consent agenda passed by roll call vote 12–0.

Budget action: The council adopted ordinance 2600088, an amendment to the FY2026 budget. The recorded vote showed 10 yes, 1 abstain and 1 absent; the ordinance was adopted.

Next steps: Staff will publish appointment lists and financial documents and launch the My Aurora 311 portal as announced by the mayor. The council recessed into closed session later the same evening to discuss personnel, collective bargaining and pending litigation matters.
