At the April 22 Glendora Unified School District board meeting, a parent raised procedural fairness concerns about the district’s new online registration for extended daycare for 2024–25, saying early manual launches of Google Forms created unfair early access and left his child on a wait list despite a confirmed 8:02 a.m. submission.
Robert Denman, identified on the public‑comment list, told trustees, "this registration process was not fairly administered," and asked the district either to redo the registration or return to the prior in‑person system because the current approach had caused "significant non‑equitable enrollment" for his family.
During the public comment response, Dr Prince said the district moved to electronic sign‑ups to reduce the burden on families who previously had to line up in person. He explained some portals were launched seconds to a minute early because staff manually opened Google Forms for each site and that the district gives priority to families who qualify for the Extended Learning Opportunity Program (ELOP): "we take all of our ELOP parents and our students and put those in there first," he said, noting ELOP priority includes students on free or reduced lunch, foster youth, homeless students and English learners.
Prince acknowledged staffing shortages in the daycare program and urged families to apply for openings posted on EdJoin; he said the district is actively hiring and trying to "pull all of our kids off the wait list." Board members thanked the speakers and asked staff to continue refining the registration process so it is more equitable.
No formal board action was recorded on the item; the public comment period closed after the two speakers.
